The Event of the signing Licensing Agreement between the Mullai Milk Processing Industry and the University of Jaffna was held on 08th October 2021. This agreement was signed to commercialize a bael fruit incorporated drinking yoghurt developed in the Department of Animal Science, Faculty of Agriculture. The event was organized in the Board Room of the University of Jaffna and via Zoom as well.
Advisory Board Members, Faculty Coordinators, Research Team, OTS Staff, OMST, and executive staff of Mullai Milk processing industry were invited to the event. The event was coordinated by Eng. Mrs. N. Vibishanan, Manager of UBL Jaffna. Director of UBL, Dr.T.Eswaramohan performed the welcome address. He further added in the history of the University of Jaffna, it is the first event of signing Licensing Agreement between University and Private business enterprises which satisfies the prime objective of the UBL establishment. The agreement was signed by Prof.S.Srisatkunarajah on behalf of the University of Jaffna and Mr.S.Thavaseelan on behalf of the Mullai Milk processing industry. Testimonials were given by Advisory Board Member Prof.K.Kanes Rajah (Dean and Professor of Entrepreneurial Behaviour and Innovation at The Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester, Gloucestershire, United Kingdom) and Prof. Thushitha Abeytunga (Lead Academic Expert/AHEAD Operation). The details of the License were briefly explained by Mrs.Thusani Sayanthan (Head/Department of Law). The acknowledgment for the event was done by Dr. S.Vasantharupa (Dean/Faculty of Agriculture). The bondage between the Research Team and University was also signed during the event.
On behalf of the research team, Mr. S. Anand Kumar (Lecturer, Dept. of Animal Science, Principal investigator), Dr. (Mrs.). S. Piratheepan (Head, Dept. of Animal Science), Mrs. S. Thiruchchenthuran (Lecturer, Dept. of Animal Science) and Mr. S. Sivatharsan (Student, Dept. of Animal Science) signed and agreed on the responsibility to transfer the technology of manufacturing of Bael fruit incorporated Drinking Yoghurt on behalf of the University of Jaffna to Mullai Milk Processing Industry. The research team from the University of Jaffna is obliged to provide adequate support and ensure the effective transfer of technology to the Mullai Milk Processing Industry.
