Under the guidance of University business Linkages, the Business Incubation cell of the faculty works for collaborating with the business sector. The “webinar discussions were organized with industrialists in Sri Lanka by the Business Incubation Cell (BIC) of FMSC. The expected participants for the secession are the students, entrepreneurs, Industrialists, government and non government institutions and staff of the Faculty. The theme of the Webinar session is “Faculty and industry interaction to accelerate the growth and development of MSMEs”.
Under this theme, the first session was organized with the sub theme of “startup Business” on 15th October 2020. The resource persons for the first session were T.Jeyaseelan, commissioner, Municipal Council, K.Ravikumar, Enterprise promotion Officer, provincial coordinator, National Enterprise Development Authority (NEDA) and Mrs.Printhini Jeyanthan, Assistant Director of Planning, Divisional Secretariat.
The second session was organized with the sub theme of “Markeitng Challenges for Loacal business during Covid-19 Pandamic” on 12th November 2020. The resource persons for the second session Mr.P.Raghavan, Industrial Promotion officer, Department of industry,Northern Province; Dr . S.Shanmugathas, Senior Lecturer, Department of Marketing, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Jaffna and Mr.K.Sasikaran, Assistant Director, District office, Industrial Development Board, Jaffna and Benhur Priyatharshan, Director ,Life Plus Company.
The third session was organized with the sub theme of “Challenges facing by women entrepreneurs in accessing credit facilities” on 9th December 2020. The resource persons for the third session were Mr.K.Sasikaran, Assistant Director, District office, Industrial Development Board; Prof.. R.Yokenthiraraja, Department of Financial Management, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Jaffna and Kalaimaamani. S.Manjula, Retd. Govt.Office, Managing Director/ Owner, Maha Fashion Corner & Academy.
The forth session was organized with the sub theme of “Gendered Impacts of Covid-19 on MSMEs in Northern Province” on 29th January 2021. The resource persons for the third session were Mr.S.Sivagengatharan, Deputy Director, Industrial Development Board of Ceylon; Mrs. T.Sivaskaran, Senior Lecturer, Department of HRM, University of Jaffna and Mr.G.Suren, Zonal Manager, Education Co-operative Society, Entrepreneur.
Business incubation cell (BIC) supports the entrepreneurial activities at different levels. It facilitates the industrial to market their product at FMSC by Wednesday Market. The Wednesday market was organized on 2nd February 2022.
