The inauguration of the Agriculture Products Management System (Inthiramart) which was developed by the Department of Computer Science, University of Jaffna for the centralized management of agricultural products for farmers, took place at the Faculty of Agriculture Auditorium of the University of Jaffna on Wednesday, 6th December 2023. The application is Licensed to Inthira Group (Pvt) Ltd, aiming to streamline and enhance the agricultural product management process for farmers.
The collaborative effort between the (UBL-Jaffna) University Business Linkages of University of Jaffna and the Indira Group (Pvt) Ltd has resulted in the development of the Inthiramart software application. This innovative application, conceived as a result of a licensing agreement signed on 18th of April 2023, is designed for the online transportation of agricultural produce between farmers and consumers. The primary goal is to simplify the process, reducing both damage and wastage, especially when it comes to storing excess agricultural products without a specific demand or order.
As per the agreement, the Inthiramart software has been formally launched for mobile phone users. This allows users to utilize the software on their mobile phones, offering a convenient and accessible tool for the efficient exchange of agricultural products between farmers and consumers, minimizing potential damage or wastage. Furthermore, the application can be downloaded on the Google Play Store, enhancing its accessibility to a wider audience.
UBL-Jaffna Established in 2018 with UGC circular, UBL-Jaffna (University Business Linkage) serves as the technology transfer office for the University of Jaffna. This is the second product launched by commercialization of University of Jaffna research through UBL-Jaffna. Notably, Inthiramart stands out as the inaugural software product introduced under UBL. Moreover, it marks a historic achievement as the first successful commercialization from the Faculty of Science, University of Jaffna since its inception in 1974.
The inventor team consists of Dr. K. Thabotharan, Principal Investigator, Mr. R. Ramanaruban, Co-Investigator, and Research Assistants R.K. Ajanthan and S. Kugarathan for their invaluable contributions to the successful product Development.
The event on 6th of Dec 2023 was ceremonially organized and Prof S. Srisatkunarajah (Vice Chancellor), Prof S.Vasantharuba (Dean/ Faculty of Agriculture), Prof T.Eswaramohan (Director/ UBL-Jaffna), Prof. P. Ravirajan (Dean/ Faculty of Science), Mr. M.Rajithan (Managing Director and Founder), Dr. K. Thabotharan (Senior Lecturer / Department of Computer Science) and Mr. R.Ramanaruban have addressed the gathering.
This accomplishment reflects the university’s dedication to innovation and signifies a significant stride in bridging academic expertise with practical, real-world applications.The success of this commercialization venture is seen as a potential catalyst for economic recovery, hinting at the notion that products like ours could play a role in boosting the country’s economy amid the current financial challenges.
விவசாய விளைபொருட்களை முகாமைத்துவம் செய்யும் பிரயோக மென்பொ௫ள் அறிமுகம் – யாழ் கணனி விஞ்ஞானத்துறை கண்டுபிடிப்பு
யாழ்ப்பாணப் பல்கலைக்கழக கணனி விஞ்ஞானத்துறையால் வடிவமைக்கப்பட்ட, இணையத்தை அடிப்படையாகக் கொண்ட விவசாய விளைபொருட்களை முகாமைத்துவம் செய்யும் இந்திராமாட் பிரயோக மென்பொருளின் அறிமுக நிகழஂவு நேற்று புதன்கிழமை யாழ்ப்பாணப் பல்கலைக்கழக விவசாயபீட அரங்கத்தில் இடம்பெற்றது.
விஞ்ஞான பீடத்தின் கணனி விஞ்ஞானத் துறையினரால் மேற்கொௗ்ளப்பட்ட ஆய்வின் படி, விவசாய விளைபொருட்களை விவசாயிகளுக்கும் நுகர்வோருக்குமிடையே, அதிக சேதங்களும் வீண் விரயங்களும் இன்றி இலகுவான வழியில் கொண்டு சேர்க்கும் முகமாக இணைய வழியில் செயற்படத் தக்கதாக ஒரு பிரயோக மென்பொருளின் பாவனை அனுமதி ஒப்பந்தம் இந்த ஆண்டின் சித்திரை மாதத்தில் யாழ்ப்பாணப் பல்கலைக் கழகத்துக்கும் வரையறுக்கப்பட்ட இந்திரா குழும (தனியார்) நிறுவனத்துக்குமிடையே கைச்சாத்திடப்பட்டது. அந்த ஒப்பந்தத்திற்கு அமைவாகவே இந்த இந்திராமாட் மென்பொருளை கையடக்க தொலைபேசி பாவனையாளர்களுக்கு அறிமுகப்படுத்தும் நிகழ்வு வைபவ ரீதியாக ஆரம்பித்து வைக்கப்பட்டது. இம்மென்பொருளை பாவனையாளர்கள் கூகிள்பிளே ஸ்டோரில் தரவிரக்கம் செய்து கொள்ளளாம் என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்க விடயமாகும்.
